I remember when I was in 6th grade I had to fly with mom to get my back surgery when they put the Harrington Rods in 1986. I was 12 and scared. Mom told me I lost 1tsp. of blood since the doctor hooked me up to a heart lung machine. We do not believe in blood transfusions or donating blood as we are Jehovah Witnesses. But what mattered was that those rods saved my life!!! In 1 month the Dr said my back turned 10 degrees. If we waited longer I would have died due to the crushing of heart, lungs and other organs.
Unfortunately the rods got infected and in Nov. of 2010 they had to be removed and the spine fused. My friend called every 1/2 hour to keep mom updated. My mom was never happier when all went better than expected.
I know you must be happy so far at how things are going for Carly. Keep praying because He will be there every step of the way. STAY STRONG for your son. He will learn it from you. ☺Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03362778533702998448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6876360566634000257.post-77662428913249594192013-03-22T06:31:49.601-04:002013-03-22T06:31:49.601-04:00Your words and strength are amazing. Your beautiful words can help many - God chooses these children because they are strong - sometimes stronger than the parents. Your word will help others.Susan Pearsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6876360566634000257.post-85285662084452792682013-03-22T06:30:35.835-04:002013-03-22T06:30:35.835-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.3rdteacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03466820682547785553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6876360566634000257.post-86019093007601817062013-03-22T00:06:39.645-04:002013-03-22T00:06:39.645-04:00That's why I write Jess! The trust...you simply amaze me, your WHOLE family!! The trust and faith in God makes me stronger. The freedom of your words you write on here gives me hope for a cure. My son has a neurological disorder called Neurofibromatosis (NF1 for short), to which there is currently no cure. He has some problems and tumors (though benign) and is going through chemo. I cannot imagine what you are going through. My family has been blessed and not separated through any of it. I'm active duty Navy and I'm thankful for a job that gives me time to go with my son to treatment each week. I'll continue to pray for sweet Ellie and that your family can be back together again soon. I'll pray that her cancer is healed and that God continues to give you strength and watch over each of you! thank you for being so brutally honest with your posts and giving me the strength each day to believe in a better tomorrow and that God REALLY does know what he is doing, even though we may not always understand at first! <3 Jess Donaldsonhttp://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brycedonaldsonnoreply@blogger.com
